A Month of Color - February - Yellow

I think painting yellow in shadow is one of the more difficult things to pull off. If you go too cool it becomes green. Too dark- brown.
I'm trying to get a hold of it in this painting and still have a lot to learn. I lost the light translucency of watercolor in the shadow side of this lemon. My favorite part? The cast shadow and the blue that's dropping into the crevices of my watercolor paper.

2014: A Month of Color- January: White

This year I'm going to try something a little different. Each month I'll try to focus on a specific color. There are no restrictions about medium, just an effort to dig into a hue a little more. Here's my collection for January, with all things white...sort of.
Frankly, I could paint white objects all year. I love finding the subtle color within.

I know...this one's a bit of a white stretch.
