April: Gray

Both Paul and I used the same photo of the marsh areas in Fairfield. It's pretty cool to see how we both interpret the same image. Of course I was going for a duller, grayed image and I suspect he punched up his colors quite a bit.

A Color a Month: April- Gray

Every Friday a group of us at work get together and paint still lifes for a few hours. The white onions lent themselves well to my gray theme. There are some darker terra-cotta marks that dot the ground plane in this painting. As I was using a ruler to draw in the horizon line a bunch of plasticene clay from its underside marked the surface. Rather than start over I just went with it. Does it work? No, but now it's a multi-media piece instead of a pure watercolor. Cool!
