Week #12

A little too bright, but the addition of salt made for a very interesting texture, I think. This might have been a wholly stupid failure if it weren't for the spontaneity of the salt effect. I justify if by saying there's a big sandstorm about to befall on this nomadic land.

Week #11

Anyone who knows me well knows I'm horrible with numbers. So, I'm still on target with a painting a week- I just have to figure out which week this is.

This week I went for simple, clean colors and shapes.

Week #10

Sometimes my weeks get a little too busy. You might be able to know without me even saying it. How? My painting for the week becomes smaller and simpler. So this week I bring you Zipper.

Week #9

I tried an experiment in glazing this week. I took my painting (top) and painted over the entire image with a thin wash of cerulean blue. It softens all my edges and harmonizes the color. The drawback, though, is that all my whites are lost. I'm not completely happy with this but part of my goal this year is to try things even though they aren't always successes. Isn't that what learning is all about?
