"Basket Case"

18 x 18" watercolor on Arches watercolor paper

While traveling through Britanny, France in July, we wandered through the Saturday market. I was struck by the lovely patterns of all the baskets stacked and hanging in the stall. I had to paint the cacophony of colors and light.
Paul came up with the title very early in the process, and the more I worked on it, the more I felt like I was the basket case. What was I thinking?

Goulvan Doorway

Goulvan Doorway
10.5 x 16"

I took many photos during my travels to the Keremma region of Brittany in northern France. Here's just the beginning of what those photos will become.

Beautiful Brittany

It's been far too long since I've posted anything, so this is a bunch of images to make up for it. I travelled with 9 others to Brittany for a week of painting the seaside, small port towns, and the pasturelands of this less-travelled part of northern France. We had downright perfect weather and I admit to eating as much butter as possible. In other words, it was a perfect trip.

The long paintings are small: 3.5 x 9" while the rest are 4 x 6". It's fun to paint in one's lap once in a while. As long as there's butter close by.
