Still Alive

Someone at work was talking to me about doing some grassroots efforts for this year's Earth Day (April 22). His enthusiasm inspired me so I went home that night and started this project.
All that texture is kosher salt thrown on the wet watercolor surface. It's hard to control, and you never know what your results will be, but it's a great way to get organic textures.

"Not Suitable For Rain Showers"

My initial wash. This, by far, is the most free and fun part of painting in watercolors. I really enjoy letting the colors flow into each other. 

Then, I forgot to take more progress photos as I went along, so this is about 90% finished. 

And the final image. This was a painting filled with joy, mostly because I didn't try to be precise. I so want to pull away from that photographic perfection.
